The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) has urged Nigerians to continue to live together in peace, bearing in mind, the sacrifices of past leaders aiming at keeping the country together must not be in vain.
This was said in a statement in Abuja on Sunday to commemorate the 57 years of Nigeria’s independence from the British.
The spokesperson for the PDP, Dayo Adeyeye, who signed the statement, called on Nigerians to always reflect on the pillars that unite them together.
He said, “The Peoples Democratic Party rejoices with Nigerians as the nation clocks 57 years of gaining her independence in 1960 from the British colonial rule.
“As we celebrate 57 years of nationhood today, being October 1, 2017, we must all as a people pay tributes to the sacrifices of our past heroes and urge our government, traditional, religious, political and opinion leaders at different levels to continue working for the unity, peace and progress of this great country. This is indeed the clarion call for Nigerians to obey.
